Under 12 Falcons 2007 Season Report
Coach:
Mark Turner
Team Manager: Phil Longton
Season
Summary
Wins:
13
Points: 41
Draws: 2
Ladder position: 3rd
Losses: 3
The team had an excellent season finishing
3rd on the ladder only missing a runners up pennant by goal difference.
It was very pleasing for the boys, particularly for those who have come
through the under 10’s and 11’s where our success rate was low.
There
are many factors that contributed to this improved performance but most
of the credit must be given to the Coach Mark Turner, who brought the
best out the team with his planning, instruction and mentoring. He is a
great role model for the boys and a high quality coach.
We enjoyed the influx of some talented new
players with Matt Singhavong, Yonatan Noyman in the midfield and
Nicholas Riley and Liam Feather usually in attacking roles. They all
had good seasons and will be improved by the experience going forward.
With the boys that have now played their 3rd and 4th season significant
improvement could be seen. There was an excellent team structure
starting with Paul Fitzgerald leading Shaun McCooke, Luke Longton and
Ken Lustig-Asai in defence. Rhys Foran, Adam Asi and Adrian Marcon
shared goalkeeper duties with mid field and attacking roles. Josh
Garmen and Jarrod Ragozzini moved between defence and midfield and our
leading scorer, Josh Dixon spending most of the year in the striker’s
role.
The
boys were well graded this year with most of the games only decided by
the odd goal. The exceptions being 2 heavy losses to the premier side
Manningham and a couple of big wins against the bottom sides. We were a
very even side brought out by the fact that most players in the team
scored at least one goal for the year. They all contributed!
Thanks
to Phil Longton for his great work as Team Manager. The team and
parents appreciated the significant time and effort he and his wife,
Kerri, have put in for the last few years. Thanks also to all the
parents for their positive verbal support and commitment to the Club
duty roster.
We
hope to see all the boys back next year in the under 13’s, where they
will undoubtedly be capable of meeting higher challenges.
