Pre-season
training 2007
2007 will be a challenging year for all sporting clubs due to
drought affected sporting grounds. Glen Eira Council, along with most
other municipalities in the state, are monitoring the situation closely
and, up until now, have banned all pre-season training on any of their
parks and ovals. Fines of $250 per infringement are being imposed to
any club flouting these requirements.
As of Monday 05 March, we have been allocated three sessions for
pre-season training on Glen
Eira sports grounds, though
limited to two hours per session (see park layouts below).
The grounds are:

McKinnon - North oval

The earlier time has been chosen as days are getting shorter and
lighting is not available.
It may not seem much, but remember, it is better than nothing. For the
moment our focus will be on age U11 upwards.
The start of the season proper will see a revision of the above, all
dependent on weather and ground conditions. For our part, the most
important factor is do not use
boots with stops - runners only!
We are fortunate in that a number of older age group teams have been
able to train at some of the local schools and we thank those
organisations for their support.
Simple ground rules (all venues):
- Stick to allocated
times and venues
- No soccer boots -
runners only
- Keep away from any
worn areas of ground
- At Caulfield Park,
keep off turf wicket
- At South Oakleigh
Primary, do not play on the main pitch
- At South Oakleigh
Primary, do not park in the car park
- Any conflict - talk
and resolve - get on or make a phone call (Club phone 0418 316 492)
- Remember - these
will be the good old days one day
